Contributing to dental care access improvement
The cost factor, the geographic disparities in terms of services and the lack of community infrastructure are a major obstacle to seeking seek dental care.
Since 2003, The Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, has multiplied initiatives in order to improve medical access and care conditions, by systematically integrating dental health. Mobile medical campaigns, organized in rural and semi-urban areas, provide for thousands of individuals, in particular children, free screen and dental treatment.
In 2016, a new person-centered approach is taken as a part of primary and specific health care services, in the context of socio-medical centers projects initiated by the Foundation. Dental care services are included and full dental care centers are set up in order to strengthen public infrastructure.
Making available a new generation of specialized centers
Located in Hay Al Massira, the dental care regional center opened its doors on May 2019. Entirely dedicated to dental health, it is also targeting the paramedical staff training and will serve as a platform for higher education internships.
Built over four levels, the center is equipped with complete facilities for restorative dentistry work and surgeries. This includes in particular an emergency service, a day hospital, consultation units for children and adults, dental surgery and specialized consultations units, a dental prosthesis laboratory, a library and a training and sensitization room. All necessary examinations, before and during the care, are performed in situ, thanks to a radiology unit provided with modern equipment. Some devices have been specially adapted to meet the needs of children and people with reduced mobility.
